The Teguise City Council has received the expansion works of the Cemetery of Nuestra Señora de las Nieves, in La Villa, after completing the work of construction of 464 new niches. This intervention, included in the cooperation plans of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, has had an investment of 310,000 euros.

The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, has stated that the completion of this project “responds to a real and urgent need of the municipality, and was a clear priority for this government group from the beginning of the mandate”, adding that “guaranteeing dignified and adequate spaces in the most delicate moments for families is not only an administrative obligation, but a sign of respect towards our citizens and towards those who preceded us.”

Duque added that “the cemetery of La Villa de Teguise is part of the historical and emotional heritage of our community, and that is why we have promoted an action that not only expands its capacity, but also dignifies and improves it.” She also wanted to thank the technical staff and all the areas involved “for the coordinated and efficient work that has made it possible to deliver this infrastructure within the planned deadlines.”

For his part, the Councilor for Works, Eugenio Robayna, positively valued the completion of the work and stressed that “action has been taken as quickly as possible to respond to one of the most urgent demands in terms of municipal services.” Robayna stressed that this expansion “reinforces the funerary capacity of the municipality and improves planning in the medium and long term.”

The Teguise City Council continues to work on the development of public infrastructures that respond to the real needs of the population, with a firm commitment to the quality of life, respect and dignity of all residents.
