The Teguise City Council has described the provisional resolution of more than 9 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund for the execution of the Integrated Action Plan for Costa Teguise as a resounding success. This is a sustainable urban development strategy promoted by the Department of Tourism within the framework of the 2021-2027 program.
The total investment, which will amount to 10.7 million euros, will allow the implementation of an ambitious set of actions aimed at revitalizing Costa Teguise and turning it into a benchmark for modernity, sustainability, and quality of life: green areas, public spaces, civic centers, implementation of new technologies, revitalization of commercial areas, and support programs for entrepreneurs and young people.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, has expressed her "satisfaction with this important achievement," emphasizing that "this resolution represents a recognition of the serious and planned work that we have been developing from the City Council to transform Costa Teguise into a modern, green, and participatory urban model. With these funds, we are taking a decisive step towards the regeneration of our public spaces, the revitalization of the local economy, and the creation of new opportunities for our neighbors."
For her part, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Tourism, and Beaches, Rita Hernández, highlighted that "this project, designed and promoted by the Department of Tourism, is the result of rigorous work that integrates the urban, economic, and social vision of Costa Teguise. We are going to transform public spaces, modernize the commercial offer, and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and young people, always with an eye on sustainability and responsible tourism that coexists in harmony with residents."
Rita Hernández points out "the work done as a great source of pride": "This is a project that was born from the councilorship that I have the honor of leading, and that today becomes a benchmark inside and outside the island."
The City Council emphasizes that "this European aid places Teguise among the leading Canary Island municipalities in attracting strategic funds, consolidating its position as a territory committed to ecological transition, digitization, and social cohesion."
Likewise, the government group emphasizes that this achievement "is the result of collaboration between municipal areas and the technical and political involvement of all the departments that have participated in the project's development."
