The Tías City Council will soon open the Tajinaste Municipal Park, a space of more than 10,800 square meters next to IES Tías, pending the finalization of the water and electricity connections. The mayor, José Juan Cruz, confirms that the facilities are ready to be used by the municipality's residents.

José Juan Cruz visited the area along with the first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, the councilors for Urban Planning, Children's Parks, and Sports, Ulpiano Calero, Christopher Notario, and Ismael Cruz, and municipal workers to supervise the final touches of the park, which will be named Parque Municipal Tajinaste.

The project, named Parque Los Lirios, had a budget of €2,691,157.09 (IGIC included), a portion financed by the Tías City Council, which allocated €1,840,627.29 from its own funds, and by the 2024 Municipal Cooperation Plan of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, which contributed €850,529.80. The works were awarded to the company Hormiconsa Canarias.

The mayor expresses his satisfaction with the completion of a project that offers a key area that facilitates coexistence, safe children's play, and interaction among residents of different ages. "These large-scale infrastructures encourage outdoor exercise, such as walking or playing basketball, and promote direct contact with natural environments, improving general well-being," he adds.

The park features a landscaped area, combining endemic flora with introduced species, a children's playground, shaded areas with pergolas, calisthenics equipment, a skate park, sports courts, bleachers with a pergola, changing rooms, a dog park, a bar-cafeteria, and public restrooms. The opening of the bar-cafeteria is pending the bidding process.

The facilities have been designed with paths connecting alternative uses, both for sports and leisure, including recreational and entertainment areas that take into account the adaptation of the space for People with Reduced Mobility (PRM), all to benefit the largest possible number of citizens.
