The Haría City Council suspends outdoor activities and proceeds to close municipal sports, cultural, and leisure facilities due to the declaration of alerts for wind, rain, and floods, decreed by the Directorate General of Emergencies of the Canary Islands Government, caused by storm Claudia.
The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, explains that the measure will come into effect from 00:00 this Thursday, November 13, 2025, after the activation of the Insular Emergency Plan of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. "Above all is the safety of our neighbors, as well as those who visit our municipality," he emphasizes.
"From the City Council, we appeal to citizen collaboration to exercise extreme caution and follow the instructions of the competent authorities at all times," he points out.
Likewise, he informs the population that the Regional Government's Ministry of Education has suspended in-person teaching activities for tomorrow, Thursday, November 13, and will switch to remote modality. In those subjects where this is not possible, teaching activities will be suspended.
Recommendations
The Haría City Council recommends that citizens check the condition of roofs, terraces, and water tanks, as well as drains and downspouts, and avoid parking and high speeds in areas at risk of flooding.
In addition, it is necessary to check balconies and rooftops to avoid leaving pots or other loose objects that could fall into the street, and travel should be avoided as much as possible. In case of emergency, call 112.
