The elderly of Yaiza do not stop, always active and prone to participate in the leisure and care activities program prepared by the City Council, always considering their demands and concerns, thus, before Easter, they took a getaway to El Golfo, camera and mobile phone in hand, to learn and put into practice basic principles of photography tutored by the southern artist Gustavo Medina, who has already directed other photography workshops promoting the creative interpretation of the landscape and heritage values of southern Lanzarote.
The group of seniors learned to observe and train the photographic eye to explore what the place offers, which involves changing position and angle and different tricks that allow the capture of images with aesthetic sense and content. Those who brought a camera were also able to detect the difference in quality compared to images taken with a mobile phone, especially the loss of definition when we use the zoom.
The Councilor for Social Dynamization and Senior Care of Yaiza, Águeda Cedrés, highlights “the interest and participation of our seniors in all types of activities, both in the training, cultural and sports activities that we promote from the area, as well as their involvement in other activities that are part of the life of the municipality such as the choir and animal welfare campaigns”.
On the municipal website, the regular program of activities is published updated that Yaiza carries out from Monday to Friday in the senior centers of Yaiza and Playa Blanca and alternative locations. Pilates, literacy, yoga, aquafitness, crafts, dance, cognitive stimulation, Canarian ball training and courses to get more out of your mobile, are part of the offer.
The senior citizens of Yaiza interested in the activities can call the numbers 679 453 803 and 928 830 403.
