The San Bartolomé City Council is carrying out the replacement of the four main gates of access to CEIP Playa Honda, an action aimed at improving the access and safety conditions of the educational center and which responds to a request made by the management team and the families of the school.
The intervention is being carried out these days with the aim that the new gates are installed and operational before the start of the next school year.
The four gates that are being replaced are part of the main access points to CEIP Playa Honda. The action also responds to the wear and tear produced over time and the climatic conditions of the island, which have caused the deterioration of the existing metal elements.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlights that “although it is an action of a relatively small economic amount, for us it is of great importance because it directly responds to a demand from the management team and the families of CEIP Playa Honda. Our commitment is to be aware of the needs of the educational centers and to address them progressively, improving all those aspects that contribute to our students and the educational community having better facilities”.
Pérez also emphasizes that “the City Council works hand in hand with the management teams of the centers to know their needs and respond to those actions that we can address from the municipal sphere. In this case, we have understood that it was necessary to replace these four accesses and we want them to be ready when the new course begins”.
The Councilor for Education, Estefanía Luzardo, points out that “this action is an example of how, by listening to the management teams and families, we can respond to specific needs of our centers. For the Department of Education, it is fundamental to maintain permanent communication with the educational community and to work together to improve their facilities”.
Luzardo adds that “we want the students to be able to start the course in the best possible facilities, and this intervention will allow us to renew access elements that showed significant wear and tear”.
For his part, the councilor for Public Works, Raúl de León, explains that "the existing gates had suffered significant deterioration due to the passage of time and exposure to environmental conditions. We have considered it necessary to proceed with their replacement to guarantee access in better conditions and with greater functionality".
The San Bartolomé City Council points out that the intervention is part of the work that is continuously carried out with the management teams of the educational centers in the municipality to detect needs and undertake maintenance and improvement actions.
In this regard, the City Council continues to work on the progressive adaptation of municipal educational facilities, addressing those actions that contribute to improving the conditions of use of the centers by students, teachers, and families.
