The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, has once again cast doubt on his party colleague, Sergio Machín, from whom he removed the powers in the area of Waste. In an ordinary plenary session that is being held this Friday, the first since the dissenting councilors of CC left the government group in a minority, San Ginés has launched a forceful phrase at Machín: "Some of us are certainly more relaxed since you are not the councilor for the area."
This new controversy has arisen after the intervention of a technician, who has attended the plenary session of the Corporation to report on the tender process for the treatment of waste from the Zonzamas Environmental Complex, which was approved in a Governing Council of the Cabildo on Friday, November 15, with a budget exceeding 70 million euros.
The technician has explained how the specifications have been drawn up and also that it has been necessary to go to a specialized company for some matters. After this explanation, the councilor of the PP Emilio Bermúdez intervened, stating that he "has no reason to doubt" the words of the technician and the procedure.
The councilor ended by saying that what he does doubt is the statements made by the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, assuring that he had withdrawn the powers in the area of Waste from Sergio Machín because a "very complex adjudication process was coming that would compromise the institution for the next 15 or 20 years". San Ginés assured that "there were many processes, complex and millionaire", so he understood that they required the "direct solution of the Presidency".
After Bermúdez's words, the councilor Sergio Machín intervened and asked the technician directly if the criteria followed in the Zonzamas tender process were the same as those being developed when he was the councilor for the area. The technician responded that in this matter they have been working "for some time" and are following the guidelines set by the Government of the Canary Islands.
San Ginés also wanted to intervene, apologizing to the technician for having to give these last explanations that "were not relevant" and reproaching Machín for his attitude. It was then that he launched the phrase at him: "Some of us are certainly more relaxed since you are not the councilor for the area."
