"Neither this Government group nor José Juan Lorenzo have anything to hide about their management at the head of the board of directors of the EPEL-CACT." This is what the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, assured this Wednesday in response to Podemos, who denounced that he had detected "irregularities in some payments" and believes that there has been an "evident case of revolving doors" by the CEO of the EPEL, José Juan Lorenzo. Podemos had also requested his appearance and that of the Tourism Councilor of the Cabildo in the Plenary and has later branded as "cowardly" that the government group "prevented" it. In this regard, San Ginés has defended the Government group's vote against that request for appearance and has reiterated that the "appropriate place" to deal with this issue is the Board of Directors of the EPEL.
Thus, the president of the Cabildo announces in his statement that he has given instructions for a board of directors of the EPEL to be convened this Wednesday, "to be held in the coming days, in order to shed light and stenographers on the crude hoax devised by the spokesperson for Podemos in order to discredit the figure of the CEO of the Tourist Centers, José Juan Lorenzo", he points out.
San Ginés, who is in Brussels on the occasion of the presentation in the European Parliament of a book on the figure of Lancelotto Malocello, has echoed from there the board of spokespersons held on the morning of this Tuesday, in which "the acting secretary of the Corporation, and not Luis Arráez as Podemos states in a press release, explained that Lorenzo cannot be called to appear before the Plenary of the Cabildo, simply because he is not a councilor"; to which he adds that "the appropriate place to debate any aspect related to the management of the CACT is the board of directors of this public entity, where all the political forces of the Cabildo, including Podemos, have voice and vote".
Podemos "intends to install the Cabildo in a permanent state of tension"
However, he continues, "given the permanent state of tension in which the Podemos group intends to install the Cabildo, especially its spokesperson, who has not made a single constructive proposal as a councilor", the president of the first Island Corporation assures that "neither this Government group nor José Juan Lorenzo have anything to hide about their management at the head of the board of directors of the EPEL-CACT".
"On the contrary", adds San Ginés, "the only revolving door with which the spokesperson for Podemos is hitting and will hit head-on is the one that reflects the magnificent results of the management of the Tourist Centers by this professional, who was pre-selected to occupy his position by an external consultant from among more than 400 candidates, all graduates, finally being chosen by, among others, the CACT's own works council; as well as in the successful strategy of promoting the island as a sports tourist destination, in whose origin Estaciones Náuticas de Lanzarote played an important role, recognized both inside and outside the island".
