The San Bartolomé City Council approved this Monday in a plenary session to put out to public tender the lease of plots of land on the municipality's mountain so that they can be cultivated by the residents. In this way, the administrative procedure is initiated with the aim of activating local agriculture. The mayor, María Dolores Corujo, stated that the most deeply rooted crop in the area of jable is sweet potatoes.
The municipal technical and legal services will study the situation and legal status of each of the plots, through all those procedures that are necessary and legally required, according to the City Council in a statement. "It is the intention of this City Council that in the near future these plots can be recovered for cultivation, which would contribute to the environmental and landscape recovery of the area," defended the first mayor.
In addition, she indicated that it will contribute to the "agricultural use for the benefit of the residents interested in cultivating, while satisfying an old aspiration of the neighborhood community." In this way, the plots can be leased in the future through public tender "which would allow the lease under conditions of equality and compliance with the principles of transparency, publicity, competition and objectivity." "We would meet environmental recovery and promotion of the primary sector objectives," said the mayor.
