A total of 354 families from the municipality of San Bartolomé have benefited from the annual municipal study grants launched by the Finance and Education departments of the San Bartolomé City Council.
On December 29, a total of 267,000 euros was paid out, allowing this type of subsidy to help the municipality's residents receive financial support to enhance the education of the school-aged population.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted "the institution's firm commitment to equal opportunities, pointing out that the City Council's objective is for no family in the municipality to have their child's access to quality education limited." He added that this initiative launched by the government team represents a "fundamental tool to support families and alleviate the expenses associated with academic training."
These grants, which in certain cases can reach up to 1,000 euros depending on the requirements of each applicant, represent the highest amount among those granted by the municipal administrations of Lanzarote and aim to facilitate access for students registered in San Bartolomé to quality education.
For their part, the councilors for Finance, Antonio Rocío, and Education, Estefanía Luzardo, emphasize the importance of this financial support, stating that "with these grants, the efforts of families to improve their children's education are truly supported by their San Bartolomé City Council".
They also highlight that it is "a commitment to inclusive and accessible education, which must become a driving force for progress for young people and for the municipality as a whole."In this regard, the study grants from the San Bartolomé City Council "have been consolidated as one of the most valued lines of support by families in the municipality, while reaffirming the Governing team's commitment to backing education as a fundamental pillar of social cohesion."In 2024, the San Bartolomé City Council granted 350 aid packages for accommodation and transportation.
