The San Bartolomé City Council, on the occasion of Book Day celebrated this Tuesday, April 23, has launched a campaign to promote reading through the exchange of books. In this way, five urban libraries have been installed in each of the town enclaves of the municipality, which will allow all citizens who wish to participate to withdraw or deposit books freely and free of charge, donating the works of their literary preference and being able to take home a new literary treasure to continue enjoying reading.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has highlighted the importance of promoting reading with a campaign "that will turn the municipality into a literary meeting place where you can share and enjoy culture." In addition, he pointed out that "this campaign will have a point in each location, from San Bartolomé to Playa Honda, El Islote, Güime and Montaña Blanca, where you can find copies deposited by the city council and others donated by the neighbors themselves."
The Councilor for Culture and Education, Estefanía Luzardo, stated that reading "is an optimal training instrument that fulfills a dual educational function and promotion of culture" and has invited all citizens to participate, acquiring and/or donating their copies in the different libraries installed.
This reading promotion campaign aims to create an urban exchange network of copies in the municipality and will remain active for the remainder of the month of April.
