Nicolás Saavedra presented the team that will accompany him in the municipal candidacy to the Tías City Council on the Unidas Sí Podemos list yesterday at the El Fondeadero civic center. The act also reviewed the "main milestones" of the legislature that is ending and presented some of the most relevant measures that will be put on the table after the elections on May 28.

The current Councilor for Social Welfare, Citizen Participation and Equality of the Tías City Council is once again running as a candidate for mayor of the municipality with the Unidas Sí Podemos left-wing coalition. He will be supported by a team “with a head and a lot of heart”, with great roots in the municipality and which constitute “a neighborhood network that knows all the corners of Tías perfectly”.

In addition to the members of his list, Saavedra was accompanied by Laura Fuentes, general coordinator of Podemos Canarias, María del Río, current deputy of Podemos in the Canarian Parliament, and candidates from Unidas Sí Podemos to other municipalities such as Nona Perera, Zayda González or Yurena Corujo.

The number two on the Unidas Sí Podemos list will be Mónica Peña, an activist in the movement for a basic income and a resident of the town of Tías, who wanted to highlight that “a person with a heart like Nicolás's is too small to be a councilor, we have to make him mayor because Tías deserves to be cared for as only he can do”.

Other prominent members of the list such as René van Leeuwen, founder of the Tías Volunteer Firefighters Association (BOLUNTIS), wanted to dedicate a few words to Podemos “as the political party that best understood the needs of the entire municipality of Tías”, highlighting the commitment of the mayoral candidate to “the people who needed it most during the worst of the pandemic”.

Laura Fuentes, for her part, highlighted the “enormous merit of Nicolás for having embodied the first Podemos government on the island of Lanzarote, taking the municipality on his shoulders from the first moment”. She also recalled that during her mandate in the General Directorate of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands, the “most beautiful and inspiring projects were always those of Tías and came from the hand of who will be the next mayor of the municipality”.
