The singer and composer from Arrecife, Rosana Arbelo, one of the most recognized Spanish voices in the Latin and international music scene, presented this morning at the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture her upcoming docuseries, a project that turns Arrecife into the stage and protagonist of her life story. She was accompanied at the event by the acting mayor of the city, Echedey Eugenio, and the Councilor for Culture, Abigail González, the area sponsoring the initiative.
The documentary series, composed of three chapters and scheduled to premiere at the end of the year with global reach, proposes an intimate and musical journey that merges past, present and future. In the words of the artist herself, it is “a project that has more to do with inspiring than impressing, that speaks of values, principles and the value of my land and my people. The real protagonist of my career has always been the people and my songs, not the records sold. Success does not exist without people.”
The production is part of a decisive moment: the beginning of the celebrations for the 30th anniversary of Lunas Rotas, the album with which Rosana conquered the world and left an indelible mark on music in Spanish. The artist stressed that Arrecife will have a special role in the docuseries: “If you don't remember where you come from, it's difficult to know where you're going. I want to give back to all the people a little of what they have given me and that the children feel that there is not only one way to love what one does and that life, when there is honesty and perseverance, can put great gifts on the road.”
As part of this project, Rosana will offer a unique concert on September 15 in Mancha Blanca (Tinajo), on the occasion of the Fiestas de Los Dolores 2025. The show will be recorded in its entirety and part of that material will be part of the docuseries.
The acting mayor, Echedey Eugenio, has stressed the importance of the initiative for the capital of Lanzarote: “It is an honor for this city to host the recording of a docuseries that reflects the life of our beloved Rosana, one of our most international singers and a figure of reference. Over 30 years, since that first 'Lunas Rotas', she has taken the name of Arrecife, Lanzarote and the Canary Islands throughout the world. Our contribution to this project is not only justified, but necessary. This is a significant moment that reaffirms the pride we feel for her career and the legacy she represents for all of us.”
For her part, the Councilor for Culture, Abigail González, highlighted the artist's link with her hometown and stressed that “what we present is not just a docuseries, it is a way of telling a life story, of music and roots. Soon it will be 30 years since Lunas Rotas, that album that changed music in Spanish and that was born from the talent of a woman from Arrecife. And now we are lucky that that story is told again from here, from the place where it all began. This documentary is not only about Rosana. It also speaks of Arrecife: of a living, open city that breathes culture and wants to share it with the world. We are convinced that this project will be a source of pride for all of Lanzarote.”
With this premiere, Rosana opens a new stage that not only celebrates her history, but also invites her followers to share an emotional and sincere journey through her professional and personal life, from Arrecife, Lanzarote and the Canary Islands to the world.
