The main beach of the capital of Lanzarote premieres from this November a new service of hammocks adapted for people with reduced mobility. The 10 new units, with a shade system to protect the face and head from the sun, complement the hammocks and umbrellas premiered at the beginning of this autumn in El Reducto, after the tender carried out by the Beaches Department of the Arrecife City Council, headed by councilor Davinia Déniz.
The tender for this new beach service established 160 hammocks - 10 of them adapted for people with reduced mobility - and 80 umbrellas that have already been deployed by the awarded company.
From now on, in addition, El Reducto beach offers a service of adapted hammocks for people with reduced mobility. The Beaches Department has installed them next to the solarium, the shower area, and the ramp. In the covered solarium, the Arrecife City Council offers amphibious chairs for the bathing of these people, who are assisted by the surveillance and lifeguarding staff who operate every day of the year on this beach awarded the Blue Flag distinction.
The Municipal Government of Arrecife, led by mayor Yonathan de León, has reinforced improvements in El Reducto beach, and its surroundings, during this term to increase accessibility. Along with the solarium, the ramp, showers, and amphibious chairs, El Reducto has become the pioneer beach on the island of Lanzarote in offering a free public service of adapted bathrooms for ostomized people, in addition to the recent premiere of a 24-hour alert system connected to the Local Police of Arrecife.
El Reducto, a benchmark beach for accessibility and public facilities
The councilor for Beaches and Environment, Davinia Déniz, has emphasized that "investments in this beach, as in others on the Arrecife coast, have been constant during this term. Investments in accessibility on La Arena beach, which will soon be joined by the coastal enclave of La Concha, and actions in El Reducto".
“The adapted bathrooms, the free locker service, the extension of surveillance and lifeguard hours on the beach, to which will soon be added, also, the extension of the opening hours of the restrooms in El Reducto, which serves the renovated pedestrian area of a section of Avenida Fred Olsen, one of the new epicenters for family strolls, are among the many improvements implemented,” detailed the Councilor for Beaches, Davinia Déniz.
