The Norwegian street, in Puerto del Carmen, will be comprehensively rehabilitated in the section between the roundabout of the Islas Canarias ravine and the Avenida de las Playas. The project, promoted by the Tías City Council and financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), is budgeted at 1,760,151.72 euros.
This proposal will provide the street with sidewalks and a bike lane along its entire route, adapting the road to the provisions of the Tías General Urban Planning Plan. Companies interested in obtaining the tender for this contract can submit offers until August 4, and the execution period for the work will be 12 months.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, and the councilor for Urban Planning, Ulpiano Calero, point out that this is a "key intervention" in one of the busiest areas of the municipality. "The section is deteriorated and requires a complete renovation in order to improve the urban quality of the environment," they add.
The document "Project for pedestrian and cycle network. Norwegian Street" proposes objectives such as improving road safety, renovating underground infrastructure, installing an irrigation system and tree pits with trees, adapting to accessibility regulations, and renovating the urban environment. It includes supply, sanitation, rainwater, telecommunications, and electricity networks, among
others.
Likewise, the project report deems it essential to maintain aesthetic and functional coherence with the already executed sections of the avenue, both in the pavement and in the organization of the space.
"The rehabilitation of this section will guarantee the uniformity of the adjacent areas, providing a homogeneous urban image in line with the applied standards. In this way, a more orderly, functional, and attractive avenue will be achieved for the daily use of pedestrians and vehicles."
