PSOE public officials have gathered this Tuesday afternoon, February 3, in front of the Insular Hospital, to demand the permanence of this essential health center for the island and reject any attempt at covert dismantling.

The insular secretary of Health of the PSOE of Lanzarote, Sabina Vizcaíno, has underlined that it is a collective mobilization “in defense of a hospital that is part of the history, the memory and the public system of care in Lanzarote”.Vizcaíno has recalled that the Insular Hospital is not a secondary or dispensable resource, but rather a healthcare center with a key care function, especially in the attention to the elderly, chronic patients, and socio-health care. "We are talking about a hospital that has cared for entire generations of Lanzaroteans, and whose continuity is a matter of dignity, social justice, and public responsibility," he has pointed outFrom the insular PSOE they warn that, as of today, there is no defined project nor a clear plan that guarantees the maintenance of the services and of the center itself, which generates growing concern among professionals, patients, and families. "When there is no project, when there is no budget, and when no explanations are given, what is being done is putting the future of the hospital at risk," Vizcaíno has denouncedThe insular secretary of Health has insisted that the Insular Hospital is the fruit of the island's collective effort and an essential piece of Lanzarote's public health system, both for its healthcare value and its human dimension. "One cannot speak of health modernization at the cost of emptying a hospital that has been and continues to be fundamental for thousands of people," she statedFinally, Vizcaíno has also appealed to the citizenry to join in actively defending the future of the center. "This is not just a demand from the PSOE; it is a cause for all of Lanzarote's society. The Insular Hospital is not to be touched. And we are not going to allow its future to be decided in silence and improvisation," he concluded.
