The PSOE denounces that Yonathan de León will have to return another subsidy of more than 400,000 euros

The socialist spokesperson in the Arrecife City Council, Cristina Duque, has criticized that "while the mayor spends tens of millions on parties, he dismisses projects to generate wealth in the capital."

The PSOE of Lanzarote has denounced this Monday in a press release that the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, will have to return a subsidy of 409,281.24 euros. According to the party, it is aid that was intended to "Strengthen and promote the Production and Consumption of Local Products".

"Yonathan de León is a machine for spending money on parties and also for losing money on subsidies, which makes this man an absolute ruin for the City Council and the residents of Arrecife," they point out.

"To put it plainly, to help the suffering merchant to boost their businesses, something that de León has never cared much about," they add. "If it had been a subsidy to strengthen and promote the consumption of drinks at night parties, it would surely have been managed differently," declares Cristina Duque, socialist spokesperson in the capital's council.

"The case is egregious since the Cabildo of Lanzarote gave them an initial deadline for execution that started from January 1 and ended on December 31, 2025, and later extended the deadline until June 30 of this year. But even by extending the deadline by half a year, the mayor of Arrecife has not managed to present any project," they assure.

"De León has been too busy in the permanent party that his government represents, to worry about the money that arrives to help humble and honest merchants. These people get up to work at the same time that Arrecife's parties end," comments Duque.

Finally, the PSOE of Arrecife denounces the "unparalleled incompetence that a man focused on waste and the subculture of the Cuba Libre constantly displays." "Between the wasted money and the lost money, Arrecife is a tragedy," she concludes.
