The Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa has announced the publication of the provisional resolution proposals corresponding to the call for Scholarships for Official Studies and Travel Grants for Students for the academic year 2025/2026.
With this announcement, the regulated technical period officially begins for students on the island to check their situation and proceed with the appropriate claims if necessary.
Ten business days for allegations and corrections
The simultaneous publication of both lists opens a ten-business-day timeframe for applicants with unfavorable or pending clarification files to submit their corresponding allegations and corrections. This period will begin to count from the day after the physical insertion of the lists on the Cabildo's Institutional Website, the Corporation's Notice Board, and the delegated management web platform.
Scholarships for in-person and distance learning
Regarding the call for scholarships for in-person and distance official studies, the Collegiate Assessment Body processed a total of 2,082 applications. Of this first group, a total of 494 favorable files were provisionally awarded, totaling an initial allocation of 736,600.00 euros.
It should be noted that the Insular Governing Council recently approved a complementary budget increase of 60,000.00 euros for this specific line, raising the total financial ceiling of the study scholarship program to 816,000.00 euros, with the aim of covering students' needs.
Travel grants
For its part, the specific line of travel grants for students pursuing higher vocational training cycles, university degrees, or official master's degrees outside the island of Lanzarote and La Graciosa resulted in a balance of 1,767 applications submitted. The provisional report dictates a predominantly positive outcome with 1,565 files resolved favorably and 202 unfavorably, supported by a budgetary reserve amounting to 644,000.00 euros.
All documentation, explanatory annexes, and informational manuals for carrying out the electronic appeal process are publicly available on the specific portal managed by the Canaria Universitaria de Las Palmas Foundation and on the Corporation's Edict Board, and on the Scholarships and Grants Management website. The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Oswaldo Betancort, emphasized "the importance of maintaining an agile and transparent aid system, underlining that this administration has as an absolute priority to provide resources and certainty to the island's youth in their educational stage".
For her part, the island councilor for Education, Ascensión Toledo Hernández, valued the effort of the technical services and stated that "the commitment of her department is to support local talent and guarantee equal opportunities for all students in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, regardless of where they pursue their higher education". Toledo recalled that "the consolidation of these budgetary items seeks to mitigate the extra cost derived from double insularity and displacement, allowing families to face school year expenses with greater socioeconomic guarantees".
