Last Sunday, April 9, Primero Teguise, summoned affiliates, supporters and also the residents of the municipality to present the candidate for mayor and to kick off the elections on May 28.
Jonás Álvarez, will be a candidate for mayor "chosen among the affiliates" and ratified "by the board of directors of the municipal formation", as it was communicated by reading the minutes of the call, being the only candidacy presented. Álvarez thanked the support of his party colleagues, assuming this responsibility, assuring that "the work, the responsibility and a great team guarantee his candidacy".
The candidate took "stock of the work done town by town without forgetting any of the 24 towns", adds the City Council. "We have kicked them all, we have walked their streets, we have known the demands of the neighbors, but the most important thing of all, we have known the state of abandonment and neglect that prevails in our municipality", confesses Álvarez.
"Teguise is one of the most important municipalities in the Canary Islands, with a larger population than the island of La Gomera or El Hierro, the only one that has an island, La Graciosa, and therefore, we cannot remain stagnant in the past or continue going slowly", he said.
Jonás also addressed "his training partners" and asked them to "continue working as until now, listening, attending, because "Teguise needs people at the front who really care about our municipality, who take it seriously and with the sole responsibility of working and defending one hundred percent each town, each street, each of the 24,000 inhabitants".
In addition, he ended his speech explaining that "he has given a clear example that he cares about his municipality, that he has not bent or knelt before anyone and that he will continue to do so", because he recognizes that "he carries Teguise in his heart and in his head", and therefore "I will not tire of giving him the best of myself", he concluded.
