The Popular Party of Lanzarote celebrated its traditional Christmas gathering this Friday, which brought together more than 150 members and supporters in an atmosphere of closeness, unity, and political review of the year. The event was attended by the island president, Astrid Pérez, the president of the PP of the Canary Islands and vice president of the regional government, Manuel Domínguez, the vice president of the Provincial Council of Toledo, Joaquin Romera, who was on a working trip to the island, and the regional deputy secretary of Municipal Action, Maria Saavedra, among other party officials.

The event, attended by public officials, local committees, and members of the island team, was marked by a clear message: "The Popular Party is the force that transforms Lanzarote every time it holds governmental responsibilities".

In his speech, Pérez stated that PP members "must be proud of our management, because it clearly responds to the project and policies of the People's Party, which aim to make people's lives better." He added an idea he defined as key: "The important things that are done in Lanzarote have the PP's name and stamp."The president emphasized that "the most important advances and solutions to long-standing historical problems are coming from the Popular Party" and highlighted that the work carried out by her party over the last six years "is beginning to be visible to citizens" and responds to the roadmap drawn up during the previous term.

Pérez defended that the Popular Party "is being the engine of the most important improvements and progress that Lanzarote is experiencing," recalling that many of the problems that had gone unresolved for decades have begun to be unblocked thanks to the PP's impetus in the main institutions it governs, such as the Cabildo and the Arrecife City Council.

In this regard, he highlighted that the construction of the Maneje social housing is being made possible thanks to the land transfer approved by the PP in 2019, during her time as Mayor of the city, which will allow the island to have public housing for the first time in thirty years. He also emphasized the launch of the first municipal Social Dining Hall, entirely funded with its own resources, as well as the long-awaited opening of the Argana Pavilion, which has finally been able to become operational. The insular president also recalled that the Popular Party has been decisive in rescuing projects abandoned for years, such as the well-known Cruz Blanca residence, which will cease to be a forgotten plot of land to become a pioneering socio-health infrastructure with a residence for the elderly, a day center, emergency housing, and support services. "This is also the case of the Tahiche Residence, a project that was reduced by the PSOE to a foundation stone and a photograph, and which has moved forward again thanks to the impetus of the Cabildo and the Popular Party."Pérez insisted that "the responsibility of the Popular Party in each of these steps forward is unquestionable," although the rest of the political actors will not exercise honesty and recognize it. That is why he encouraged members and supporters to be "the voice of a political project that is transforming Lanzarote."

The island president, who reviewed the great work being carried out by the various local committees, closed her speech with a message of confidence and gratitude. "Thank you for believing, for being here, and for continuing to contribute to the great party we are. We have the best human teams and the strength and ambition necessary to improve Lanzarote and people's lives."
