The Island Director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote, Pedro Viera, received this Tuesday in his office the Consul of Colombia in the Canary Islands, Juan Carlos Espinosa Escallón, in a meeting in which various issues of interest to the Colombian community on the island were addressed.
One of the main topics discussed was consular assistance to Colombian citizens, with special emphasis on the day of procedures that will be carried out from March 17 to 21 through a mobile office. This initiative will allow Colombian residents in Lanzarote to manage documents and consular services without having to travel outside the island.
In addition, in response to the request of the Colombian associations in Lanzarote, the installation of a new polling station on the island has been authorized for the elections next year, thus facilitating the exercise of the right to vote for Colombian citizens residing there.
During the meeting, both the Island Director and the Consul highlighted the excellent relations between Spain and Colombia, emphasizing "the support and generosity that the authorities of Lanzarote provide to the Colombian community." In this sense, they reiterated "the commitment to continue strengthening cooperation to improve the quality of life and integration of Colombian citizens on the island."
