The President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, accompanied by the Councilor for Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, held an institutional meeting with representatives of the Saharawi community residing on the island. The meeting, held at the Cabildo headquarters in an atmosphere of full cordiality, allowed to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between local institutions and this community.

The president, Oswaldo Betancort, has expressed "his satisfaction with the meeting and underlines the importance of maintaining a close relationship with the different communities that coexist in Lanzarote." In this sense, Betancort highlights that "the Saharawi community is an example of resilience and cultural roots, and from the Cabildo we want to show them our support and work together to guarantee their well-being. Lanzarote has always been a bridge of solidarity, and we will continue to build that connection."

Similarly, the Councilor for Social Welfare and Inclusion of the Lanzarote Cabildo, Marci Acuña, states that "our goal is to build a cohesive and respectful society, where all citizens feel represented and heard. The Saharawi community brings a cultural richness that enriches our island, and this meeting is a sign of our willingness to walk together towards a better future for all."

During the meeting, the Saharawi representatives thanked "the Cabildo's willingness to address their concerns and promote collaboration and cooperation through humanitarian aid and awareness programs to publicize the reality of the Saharawi people."

Likewise, the meeting also addressed the upcoming institutional meeting to be held in Lanzarote, in January, between the delegate of the Saharawi Polisario Front in the Canary Islands, the seven municipalities and the Island Council.
