Óscar Noda González, current mayor of Yaiza and computer engineer, was elected president of the Unidos por Yaiza party with the support of one hundred percent of the members who attended this Saturday to the II Extraordinary Congress of the political formation held in the town of Playa Blanca, a meeting that also served to update its statutes and launch UPY's firm aspiration "to maintain the leadership of the municipal government of Yaiza in the electoral contest next May".

Óscar Noda is now accompanied on the party's Executive Committee by the vice president Marcial Viñoly, a livestock breeder from the Uga camel sector, the secretary of UPY, Beatriz Vázquez, a business management technician, and Karina Centeno, a lawyer who assumes responsibility for the treasury of the southern political formation.

In a speech with a strong emotional charge and in the presence of Román Rodríguez, leader of Nueva Canarias and vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands, of Dolores Corujo, general secretary of the PSOE in Lanzarote and president of the Island Council, among other guests, Óscar Noda argued that “our objective is to consolidate the organization, grow and win the elections to continue carrying out responsible and fair management with our people”, making it clear that “we are an open and not at all exclusive formation, with projection, that will study the possibility of presenting ourselves to other institutions”.

Óscar Noda commented amid applause and "cheered by the chorus of president, president...” that "I ratify my commitment to the cause of Unidos por Yaiza, which is the cause of the municipality of Yaiza, of all the citizens who live and love this land, with UPY voters and with those who are not. UPY is not an exclusive organization and absolutely everyone has a place here. Our results guarantee the work and we want to continue improving the well-being of our neighbors”. The president of UPY expressly thanked all the members for their support and the good work of the Congress organization led by Karina Centeno, Beatriz Vázquez, Daniel Medina and Ángel Lago.

Daniel Medina reviewed the municipal management, drawing in a transversal way "all the actions of the government areas protected by an impeccable management of the municipal accounts", while Marcial Viñoly stated in the balance of his temporary presidency that “we understood that after seven years without holding any Congress and facing the new organization scenario that was presented to us, it was the moment, and we also had the obligation, to reorganize ourselves to update our statutes, but above all, and we always have to keep this very present, to continue with this political project that continues to excite our neighbors from Yaiza”.

Unidos por Yaiza also outlined its objectives in economy, tourism and sports, in a presentation given by César Rijo, and in Social Welfare, Culture and Equality, a presentation defended by Águeda Cedrés. The president of Unidos por Yaiza conveyed a message of hope “to continue building a municipality of Yaiza for everyone where we are much happier due to the well-being achieved”
