The councilor of the Mixed Group in the Insular Council of Lanzarote, Óscar Noda, has presented a series of proposals to "boost" the island's transport by suggesting improvements to the service and the installation of bus shelters in certain areas of Lanzarote.
Among his proposals, Noda considers the urgent installation of **shelters** for the Insular Public Transport Service of the Cabildo de Lanzarote to be necessary, especially at the bus stops in **Haría** (**Punta Mujeres, Haría town, Puerto Calero, and Tías**).Likewise, Óscar Noda requests "the construction of an interchange in Argana Alta, a matter that, in his opinion, is more than necessary as it is a nerve center of the island of Lanzarote, one of the areas with significant population growth in recent years with limited access to public transport, which hinders the mobility of residents and encourages the use of private vehicles, contributing to increased traffic and pollution in an area of special sensitivity such as the hospital itself."According to Noda, "the construction of a bus interchange in Argana Alta would facilitate the **connection between different public transport lines**, optimizing waiting times and guaranteeing a more efficient service".
Furthermore, he argues that it would allow residents of this area to access other parts of Arrecife and Lanzarote more easily, thus encouraging the use of public transport. It would also facilitate access to basic services, educational centers, healthcare, and leisure. The counselor indicates that the implementation of an interchange must be part of a comprehensive transport strategy that considers the **demographic and urban growth** of Lanzarote, ensuring adequate infrastructure that responds to the present and future needs of Arrecife and the island”.
For all these reasons, Noda requests "to initiate a feasibility study for the construction of the aforementioned bus interchange in Argana Alta, evaluating the most suitable locations and the necessary resources for its implementation in coordination with the Arrecife City Council, as well as establishing a collaboration plan with the Arrecife City Council for the integration of the interchange into the island's public transport network".
In short, Noda trusts that the governing group will manage to **appreciate the substance of these proposals** that seek to give a necessary boost to the island's transport service.
