Óscar Noda and Daisy Villalba, and the candidate Yoné Caraballo, have collected in recent days the demands of various social organizations to which they have also transferred the Canarian model of care for dependency and disability, a model focused primarily on the person, the party reports.
As Villalba has pointed out, "we have listened to the professionals and technicians who know firsthand the reality of the social sphere in which they have been working for years."
“We have collected their demands based on their extensive experience with the aim of designing care policies with a model that aims to especially bring public socio-health services to the homes of the users themselves," they comment.
In addition, that these "remain in their homes as long as possible and that it is in their homes where they receive the assistance that each one requires," said Daisy Villaba.
Among the main lines, "the commitment to personal autonomy promotion services" stands out and emphasis is placed above all on proposals such as "comprehensive care for the person and collaborative models such as the so-called "co-housing", where the people cared for can feel at home," they say from Nueva Canarias.
Patterns that, in addition to "setting a trend for years throughout Europe, are very far from macro-residences and other types of centers that other political options insist on," they recall.
In this way, on May 1, Villalba went to Fuerteventura to meet, together with candidate Yoné Caraballo and representatives of the College of Social Workers of Las Palmas, a meeting in which, among other agreements, the lines that social workers must follow in relatively new areas for this group, such as the health sector, were established.
The planning in Social Welfare in the province of Las Palmas, with greater impact on the deficiencies of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, were, among other issues, some of the topics addressed. Joint work between Administration and NGOs.
In addition, last Wednesday, May 10, the three politicians participated in meetings with representatives of the Association of People with Disabilities in Lanzarote (Adislan) and with members of the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer's Patients and other Dementias of Lanzarote (AFA).
"The serious shortcomings and serious deficits that they continue to suffer from public administrations"
In both meetings, the two NGOs, raised the serious shortcomings and serious deficits that they continue to suffer in supporting their work by public administrations, they point out.
“They need the Public Administration to work side by side with the Third Sector to find the most effective solutions that allow much better management of the day-to-day problems of the services dedicated to the care of people,” Villalba explained.
