The Local Committee of Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-bc) in Arrecife has publicly denounced that the City Council has not yet paid the transport subsidies for students corresponding to the year 2025, a situation that is generating unease and uncertainty among dozens of young people and their families.

From the Canarista formation, they point out that, despite a considerable amount of time having passed since the procedure was opened, the file is currently in the error correction phase, with no clear, detailed information or specific deadlines on when the aid payments will be processed.

The local spokesperson for NC-bc in Arrecife, Sheila Guillén, has criticized the lack of political priority for the municipality's youth. "It is unacceptable that the City Council is agile and diligent in paying for other matters, such as celebrations, and yet keeps students waiting who depend on these grants to continue their education," she stated.

Guillén emphasized that these subsidies are not a luxury, but a basic necessity for many families. "We are talking about young people who have to travel off the island to study and who face very high transportation costs. The non-payment demonstrates an absolute disconnect from the reality of our students," he added.

From NC-bc, they demand the municipal government group show the same speed and commitment to transport aid as is applied to other municipal proceedings, as well as greater transparency and public information on the real status of the procedure.“Arrecife's youth cannot continue to be the last on the list of priorities. They deserve to be protected and supported by public institutions,” concluded Sheila Guillén.
