Noda claims the purchase of the 42 public homes in Playa Blanca: "Yaiza shows the way"

The mayor of Yaiza states that the "Club Lanzarote project foresees a third phase in the short term that could also be acquired by the autonomous community"

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and the councilor of the Montaña Roja District, Beatriz Vázquez.

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, is pleased that the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo of Lanzarote have made effective the purchase of 42 homes for affordable rent in the Los Ajaches residential in the tourist town of Playa Blanca, recalling that “this alternative, which we have always conveyed to the Government of the Canary Islands, points the way to alleviate the lack of housing, not only in the municipality of Yaiza, but also in Lanzarote. In 2018 we gave the first licenses for the construction of protected private promotion houses in said residential area of Montaña Roja, so this fact confirms that although it is not a definitive solution, it does help to solve the problem that many Lanzarote families are suffering while the Canary Islands executes its own social housing construction projects”.

Óscar Noda specifies that “the 42 houses purchased correspond to the second phase of the Los Ajaches residential, but the Club Lanzarote project foresees a third phase in the short term that could also be acquired by the autonomous community within the framework of the multi-year Housing Plan, as I proposed to the President of the Government, Fernando Clavijo, in a meeting we had in Tenerife where we discussed matters of maximum interest to Yaiza”. The mayor and the councilor of the Montaña Roja District, Beatriz Vázquez, visited the Los Ajaches residential area this Wednesday.

Regarding the 136 homes pending construction on the 42,000 square meter plot that the City Council "ceded in a timely manner" to the Government of the Canary Islands, Óscar Noda reports that “we maintain very good inter-administrative cooperation relations with the Canarian Housing Institute, which already has in its possession the urban planning compliance report of the basic project for the urbanization of the plot and construction of those 136 homes, of about 50 square meters of useful surface area, so that they can finalize the drafting of the execution project and tender the works”.
