The Public Works Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote opened to traffic this Friday the road annexed to the Playa Honda Urban Park, in addition to making a large part of the parking available to residents.

The Vice President of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, together with the Councilor for Public Works of San Bartolomé, Raúl de León, attended the opening ceremony of the road, which will allow residents to bypass the Urban Park and access Alisios Street.

“The opening of this road is a further step towards the opening of the Urban Park, a large green lung that is, without a doubt, one of the most important projects in the municipality of San Bartolomé, which will generate a space for recreation and meeting in the town”, Medina assured.

In addition, the road recently opened to traffic has "145 new parking spaces", four of them for people with reduced mobility, and two for electric vehicles. “In these last two places we will install electric chargers, and it will be done once the works of the Urban Park are finished”, Medina clarified.

On the other hand, in the area known as the Guacimeta esplanade, "26 parking spaces" have been enabled, one of them for people with reduced mobility. However, when the work is finished, this area will have "a total of 59 parking spaces, 3 of them for PRM".

The Councilor for Works of San Bartolomé, Raúl de León, highlighted the importance of the opening of this road for the residents of Playa Honda. “This new Urban Park will be a large meeting and use space for the families of the municipality, in addition to generating a large parking area”, he added.

The new Playa Honda Urban Park is a work drafted in 2021 and for which the Cabildo of Lanzarote allocates an amount of three million euros, financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), within the Sustainable Urban Development strategy Conurban Azul of the Sustainable Growth Operational Program 2014-2020.
