The spokesperson for Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC) in Yaiza, Luis Miguel Valiente Umpierrez, accompanied by members of the Local Committee, held a working meeting with Vicente Umpierrez García, president of the Playa Blanca Neighbors Association, to analyze the main concerns raised by the town's residents.

For NC-BC, the problems addressed highlight the same reality: "the growth of Playa Blanca demands more effective municipal management, capable of guaranteeing adequate public services, the maintenance of common spaces, and compliance with regulations."

Cleaning and maintenance of public spaces

One of the main concerns for this party is the state of cleaning and maintenance of playgrounds, squares, and other public spaces.

"We are talking about places where our children play, our elders gather, and residents and visitors coexist. We cannot normalize that certain spaces are in a condition that is not up to par with Playa Blanca," states Valiente.

More safety in swimming areas

The Canarian party also calls for the restoration of adequate delimitation of swimming areas through "buoys" or other protection systems, which separate swimmers from boat and jet ski traffic.

NC-BC proposes that the City Council request Costas and other competent administrations to review the situation and adopt measures that guarantee the safety of swimmers.

Occupation of public space

During the meeting, the presence of rental vehicles parked for long periods in public spaces was also discussed, as well as the excessive occupation of pedestrian areas with terraces, displays, and other commercial elements.

"The public highway belongs to everyone and cannot become a permanent parking lot for vehicles linked to business activities," argues Valiente.

The party also defends the right of entrepreneurs to carry out their activities, but recalls that it must be compatible with the right of pedestrians to have an "accessible, safe, and walkable" public space.

Control and compliance with regulations

NC-BC Yaiza demands greater oversight of the circulation of scooters and bicycles in pedestrian areas, as well as certain commercial activities that may be operating without the corresponding authorizations.

The formation also asks to enforce regulations on outdoor advertising and illuminated signs, guaranteeing homogeneous criteria for all establishments and paying special attention to issues such as light pollution, aesthetic integration, and road safety.

Sanitation problems

Episodes in which, after certain rains, waste and contaminated water end up reaching the beach cause special concern.

“The causes must be studied, the facilities reviewed, and a definitive solution put on the table. We cannot get used to waste appearing on our beaches every time it rains,” denounces Valiente
