NC shows its support to the PSOE in Tinajo and also demands a Public Children's School in Tías

The Canarian nationalists assure that they have been raising this demand to the City Council for years so that "they allow boys and girls to access a network of public and quality children's schools"

The Local Committee of Nueva Canarias-Canarian Bloc (NC-bc) in Tías joins the demands of the PSOE in Tinajo in defense of a public children's school for the municipality, and recalls that "this same demand has been raised in the municipality of Tías for years without the local government led by the PSOE having given an effective response to date."

For the president of NC-bc in Tías, Arminda Barreto, “what the PSOE of Tinajo is demanding today is exactly what we have been asking for in Tías for some time, that a public service of children's schools be guaranteed that gives peace of mind to families and that favors work-life balance. We fully agree on this.”

Barreto recalls that “NC-bc has repeatedly insisted on the reopening of the Puerto del Carmen Children's School and other children's schools in Tías, and on the creation of a stable public management model to meet the growing demand for places”, thus, the Canarian nationalist continues, “the Tías government group itself announced in a press release that it was going to reform and reopen the Puerto del Carmen Children's School, but two years later that commitment remains unfulfilled. We cannot continue to fuel promises that never materialize.”

From the Canarian organization they recall that "in November 2022 the opening of new early childhood education centers in the municipality was officially requested, underlining the need for public services that facilitate family reconciliation." In February 2023, Arminda Barreto visited the municipal children's schools of Telde and publicly announced that "she would propose replicating that model in Tías, with the reopening of the Puerto del Carmen school and the creation of a public company that would manage early childhood education, housing and social services."

In addition, Barreto stressed that the problem also lies in "the lack of support from the Canary Islands Government of CC and PP, which does not make it easy either, since the municipality only has some public early childhood education places in the CEIP Concepción Rodríguez Artiles of Puerto del Carmen that are insufficient for a municipality of the population size of Tías”.

However, from NC-bc in Tías "they offer a hand to the local government group to work together on a definitive solution. The important thing is that the boys and girls of our municipalities have access to a public and quality early childhood education”.

In this sense, they propose "reopening the Puerto del Carmen Children's School immediately as a first step, creating a local public company, with the support of the Cabildo and the Canary Islands Government, that manages children's schools together with other social and housing services and, finally, establishing a municipal dialogue table where all political forces can agree on a joint plan that gives stability and guarantees to families”.

“From NC-bc we want to make it clear that we agree on the diagnosis and that we are willing to lend a hand. What we ask for is political will and a clear schedule of actions. The families of Tías need solutions, and our hand is extended to achieve them together”, Arminda Barreto concludes.
