The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Housing Institute (ICAVI), directed by Pino de León, expands the credit for housing acquisition aid in the call corresponding to the year 2026, reaching 529 young beneficiaries, with a total amount of 4,507,709 euros.
The budget expansion, published this week in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands, has increased the call's allocation by 1,507,709 euros, going from 3,000,000 to 4,507,709 euros. This increase allows for an increase from 370 to 529 beneficiaries, thus attending to all applications that met the established requirements, in accordance with the conditions of the call and up to the limit of available credit. With this resolution, the call exhausts all funds.
The director of the Canary Housing Institute, Pino de León, has stated that "this increase in economic allocation allows us to reinforce the resources aimed at facilitating the access of young Canary Islanders to owner-occupied housing and that they can have an opportunity to carry out their life project on our islands".
Requirements and amount of aid
The call for aid, opened in April 2026 and now closed, was aimed at young people up to 35 years of age who have acquired an already built dwelling intended for their habitual residence, through a public deed formalized within the established period.
The dwelling had to be located in any municipality of the Canary Islands and respect the established price limits, excluding taxes and associated expenses. Furthermore, a significant novelty was incorporated by expanding the maximum price limits of the dwellings that could be eligible for this aid, setting them at 170,000 euros in the capital islands and 200,000 euros in the non-capital islands or for large families.
This modification made during this legislature has allowed for an expansion of the possibilities of access to owner-occupied housing for the young population. The maximum subsidy, not including the expenses and taxes inherent to the acquisition, amounts to 11,000 euros per beneficiary.
