Teguise will install more than 50 cameras in public spaces to improve security. The Teguise City Council "has already started" the installation to improve traffic in strategic public environments.

Ginés González explains that the action has begun with the commissioning of "two cameras", as a pilot test, which will serve to "test the reading of license plates of vehicles" that may commit some type of infraction. “In addition, they will help us monitor the uncontrolled waste discharges that usually occur at the point known as ‘North Route’, in Costa Teguise.”

As explained by the head of the Local Police, the deployment of the total number of cameras up to 50 "will be divided into two phases". The first of these will consist of the installation of "25 cameras during the months of January and February". The rest will be placed during "the first semester of this year". All will give comprehensive coverage to Costa Teguise, the rest of the municipality and La Graciosa.

The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlights that this action fulfills the commitment acquired with the residents at the beginning of the mandate, responding to a demand from the citizens. “We want Teguise to be the safest municipality in Lanzarote, because it will result in the well-being of the population”, she confirmed.

"The provision of surveillance equipment is possible thanks to the renting of the devices, so the maintenance and continuous operation of the equipment is guaranteed, as well as its replacement if necessary."
