The Cabildo of Lanzarote celebrated this Thursday, August 21, the II Island Youth Encounter, an event that brought together more than 300 young people from all the municipalities of the island. This activity is part of the commemoration of International Youth Day, which took place on August 12.
The opening ceremony was attended by the Councilor for Youth, Aroa Revelo, accompanied by the General Director of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands, Daniel Morales, the Councilor for Culture, Jesús Machín Tavío, and the Mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, as well as other island and local authorities who wanted to support this youth meeting.
The day took place in the Plaza de San Roque and had areas for games, practical workshops, talks, musical performances, with the participation of local artists and the closing of the meeting by the singer Juseph.
The Councilor for Youth, Aroa Revelo, highlighted that "Tinajo is a leading town in terms of youth policies. From the Island Corporation we are very proud of all the young people who were here today, since their involvement, creativity and desire to participate are the best guarantee that the island has a committed youth with much to contribute."
Revelo also thanked the young people of Tinajo for their help and commitment during the organization of these days. "As Councilor for Youth, it is essential to give the importance that the youth population of Lanzarote and La Graciosa deserve," she added. "They are not the future, they are the present," she concluded.
This initiative had the collaboration of the youth associations of the island, which actively participated in the organization and design of the program. All activities were free and transportation and food facilities were offered, guaranteeing the participation of young people from the seven municipalities of the island.
