Monzón reveals that CC proposed to the PP "not long ago" a motion of censure against the mayor of Yaiza

"In the end, no agreement was reached, I understand by CC, because I can anticipate that the rest of the parties agreed to give stability," said the popular councilor.

The PP spokesman in the Yaiza City Council, Juan Monzón, has revealed that CC proposed to the populars "not long ago" to present a motion of censure against the mayor of the municipality, Óscar Noda, despite the fact that the nationalists are part of the southern government group.

"It is true that CC, not long ago, knocked on our door to remove the mayor from the government", Monzón assured on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, where however he pointed out that "no agreement was reached". "I understand that by CC, because I can anticipate that the rest of the parties agreed to give stability and continue betting on having a municipality with an absolute majority to continue governing and do the management that has to be done to improve the municipality."

"In the end that did not work out and we continue in the position we were in, which is being councilors of the opposition and in that way we will continue working," added the PP councilor, who nevertheless hopes to "be able to govern" in the next legislature "with the support of the neighbors."

"The mayor is looking for confrontation"

On the other hand, Juan Monzón has been critical of the institutional declaration that the mayor of Yaiza brought to the plenary session this Friday to ask the Cabildo for its support for the operation of medium-sized cruises in the new port of Playa Blanca. And it is that, he considers that "what is sought" with it is "simply the confrontation between political formations". "Between institutions and also between political parties," he specified.

"What he intends is to impose on the Cabildo and tell them that, given that this decision has been taken in Yaiza, the president and the Cabildo have to issue a letter and tell them that what is wanted is what Yaiza asks for Yaiza. And I believe that a Cabildo represents the island scope," he said.

In addition, Monzón considers that the ways in which this matter has been brought to the plenary session "are not correct". "If I were mayor of this municipality, prior to taking it to the plenary session and taking it in a consensual manner, I would gather the spokespersons of the political groups and open a debate table exposing everything that has been processed and all the steps that have been carried out to request the pertinent permits from the Government of the Canary Islands, which, it seems or from the information we have, is nothing," he indicated.

"It gives me that what there has been here is a failure when requesting the corresponding permits and that they want to find culprits where there are none," he added.

However, despite all this, the PP councilors have supported the institutional declaration giving their vote in favor in the plenary session. "Because never ever, and we have always said it and we have conveyed it to the mayor, we are going to work against improving the interests of our municipality, our neighbors and our merchants," concluded Juan Monzón
