The Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, affiliated with the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, hosts an **astrophotography exhibition** by liaison nurse **Manuel Verdugo**
Under the title Beyond the night. Portraits of the infinite, the exhibition, located in the hall of the hospital center, includes a total of 25 astronomical images of planets, the Moon, galaxies and nebulas. The photographs have been taken by the author from his own observatory, through the use of high-precision cameras and telescopes capable of capturing light from space.
The collection allows the visitor to observe the Universe in a way impossible for the human eye. The astrophotographs link art with science, as they record real information from the cosmos and transform it into images of great visual impact. The colors shown represent gases, energies, and physical processes of the cosmos that are invisible without the application of this technique
The Universe as a hobby
Manuel Verdugo has been working as a nurse in the Lanzarote Health Management for approximately thirty-seven years and currently works as a liaison nurse at the San Bartolomé Health CenterHis passion for astronomy dates back to his youth, as does his interest in photography, which initially led him to set up a professional telescope at his home and, subsequently, to build his own observatory with specific equipment for astrophotographyAccording to the author, this exhibition is a real window to the Universe: "an invitation to look at the night sky in another way. Each image is real light that has traveled for thousands or millions of years before reaching the camera. To capture each one of them requires patience, precision, and many hours of work," he emphasizes.
This initiative aims to bring art closer to users by making healthcare facilities more welcoming, and to support professionals in the development of personal and creative activities. The exhibition will also be displayed in various Primary Care health centers.
