This Friday, November 17, the meeting of mayors will be held at the Cabildo of Lanzarote, as confirmed by the mayor of Yaiza and councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Óscar Noda, and his colleague Daysi Villalba. The main objective of the meeting is to "analyze" the budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for this 2024, which Noda himself described as "very bad" for Lanzarote.

The NC-UPY councilors have sent a letter to the mayors of the island where they invite them to this meeting to "coordinate efforts" and, above all, with the aim of jointly preparing amendments, thus initiating the "battery of measures to try to alleviate the unfair deficiencies in investment matters for Lanzarote in the next financial year."

"Alleviate the unfair deficiencies in investment matters for Lanzarote in the next financial year"

“What we intend is to improve this budget and send a message to the Canary Islands that Lanzarote deserves to be where it belongs, and this should not be done by me, or even the rest of the mayors, but by the President of the Cabildo who promised to defend Lanzarote above political colors. However, he has missed this opportunity to put into practice what he promised in his investiture,” says Noda.

The councilor of the Cabildo, criticizes "vehemently" that "not a single euro of investment can be lost" and will ask that the "third place in investment" that this CC-PP budget denies Lanzarote with respect to 2023 be recovered. "Sensitive items such as health, agriculture and education are considerably reduced" and, the councilor affirms, "we cannot remain silent or be complacent with these accounts that discriminate against us and that also do not address the main problem of Lanzarote, which is water”.

“I want to thank the mayors who have confirmed their attendance at the meeting, which in this case I have convened, but which we will all lead before the incomprehensible complacent behavior of whoever runs the island, it is as if they did not care. Therefore, and without any intention of starring in anything, what I intend is not to give the feeling of passivity on the island in the face of an attack on the interests of Lanzarote without precedent,” says the mayor of Yaiza.

In addition, Noda recalls that he will present a "motion" so that "technical criteria" are applied in the distribution of investment, as already happens with the IGTE funds or those of Municipal Coordination and Cooperation, and informs that he will make a visit to Casimiro Curbelo to try to forge strategic alliances in achieving improvement of this budget.
