The Marlines Canoe Club of Lanzarote has put the finishing touch to a historic season in Alicante. The Lanzarotean team has been proclaimed double Spanish champion, conquering the team titles in the Absolute and Children's categories, in addition to finishing third in Spain in Master, in a Spanish Championship in which its athletes achieved the extraordinary figure of 43 individual medals: 10 golds, 17 silvers, and 16 bronzes.
The Spanish Championship also represented the fourth and final scoring event of the different National Leagues, after the three Spanish Cups held during the season in Vilaboa, Ciutadella, and Vigo.
With the classifications definitively closed, Marlines culminates the national circuit with an extraordinary balance of 14 titles and collective honors between the Spanish Championship and the National Leagues: eight first places, four runner-up places, and two third places.
A harvest that confirms the Lanzarotean team as one of the great references of national sea kayaking during the 2026 season.
Doubles of Spanish champions in Alicante
The last national competition of the year ended in the best possible way for Marlines. In the Absolute classification, the Lanzarotean team was proclaimed Spanish champion with 4,613 points, closing an outstanding performance in the different categories that make up the absolute block.
The dominance also extended to the youth categories. Marlines conquered the Children's Spanish Championship with 1,448 points, confirming the extraordinary performance of the development categories throughout the weekend.
The collective result was completed with the third place in Spain in Master, with 1,697 points, allowing Marlines to climb to the podium in the three major collective blocks of the Spanish Championship.

Champions of the Absolute National League
The Spanish Championship also allowed the general classifications of the different National Leagues to be closed, and among all the successes, the conquest of the XVI National Sea Kayaking League stands out especially.
Marlines are proclaimed champions of the Absolute National League with 420 out of a possible 420 points, after achieving the maximum score in each of the four scoring competitions of the season.
A plenary session that reflects the enormous regularity of the team and its ability to maintain the maximum competitive level from the first Copa de España to the last race of the Campeonato de España.
It is not, therefore, the result of a single competition, but the reward for a complete season in which Marlines has managed to stay at the top of the national standings from start to finish.
Present and future: Champions of young promises
The performance of the youth academy has been another of the fundamental pillars of the season.
Marlines are crowned champions of the VI National League of Young Promises of Sea Kayaking, also with a perfect record of 420 out of 420 points, after obtaining the maximum score in Vilaboa, Ciutadella, Vigo, and Alicante.
The League title, together with the Spanish Children's Championship won in Alicante, once again highlights the strength of a youth academy that continues to be one of the great foundations of Marlines' sporting project.
Four competitions and four maximum scores also demonstrate the regularity of the young Lanzarote paddlers throughout the season.
Women's National Double: Iberdrola League and Senior Women
The Marlines women's team has been another of the great protagonists of 2026.
The Lanzarote team is crowned champion of the VIII Iberdrola League of Sea Kayaking, the great national women's standings, after finishing the season with 411 points.
A title of enormous importance that reflects the growth, depth, and competitive level achieved by women within the club's sporting structure.
To this success is added the victory in the VI Senior Women's Sea Kayaking League, in which Marlines is crowned champion with 414 points.
Being champions of the Iberdrola League and champions of the Senior Women's League in the same season represents one of the great achievements of the year and confirms the women's team as one of the fundamental pillars of the successes achieved by Marlines.
Double also in Cadets
The depth of the sporting structure is once again evident in the Cadet categories, where Marlines achieves another two national first places.
In Cadet Men, the club is crowned champion with another perfect score of 420 out of 420 points, after achieving the maximum score in the four races of the season.
In Cadet Women, Marlines once again occupies the national first place, closing the League with 417 points.
The Lanzarote team thus ends the season as national champion in both male and female Cadete, another result that demonstrates the depth of a youth system capable of competing for the top national positions in both genders.
14 titles and collective honors
Adding the results from the Spanish Championship and the final standings of the National Leagues, Marlines' collective record is extraordinary.
The club achieves eight national first places: Absolute Spanish Championship, Children's Spanish Championship, Absolute National League, Young Promises, Liga Iberdrola, Senior Women, Cadete Men, and Cadete Women.
To these are added four national runner-up positions, corresponding to Senior Men, Masters, U23 Men, and Junior Men, and two third places, corresponding to the Masters Spanish Championship and the Junior Women's League.
In total, 14 national titles and honors, with Marlines present on the podium from the development categories to Masters and with both male and female results.
43 medals to crown the Spanish championship
The collective performance was accompanied in Alicante by an extraordinary individual harvest.
Marlines athletes achieved 43 individual medals: 10 gold, 17 silver, and 16 bronze, precisely achieving the club's highest number of medals in a national competition this season at the Spanish Championship.

A total of 30 Marlines athletes managed to reach the podium during the Spanish Championship, several of them on more than one occasion and in different disciplines and categories.

From the youth academy to the veterans, including absolute athletes and paddlers from inclusive modalities, everyone has contributed to writing one of the most important chapters in the club's sporting history.
Marlines on the podium of eleven national leagues
Beyond the six League titles won, the dimension of Marlines' season is reflected in their practically permanent presence among the top positions in the different national classifications.
The Lanzarote team finishes the season on the podium of eleven National Leagues, with six first places, four second places, and one third place, covering male and female categories from Cadet to Master.
Marlines is proclaimed champion of the XVI National Sea Kayak League, champion of the VI National Young Promises Sea Kayak League, champion of the VIII Iberdrola Sea Kayak League, champion of the VI Senior Women's Sea Kayak League, champion of the VI Cadet Men's Sea Kayak League, and champion of the VI Cadet Women's Sea Kayak League.
To these six titles are added four other national runner-up finishes. Marlines finishes second in the VI Senior Men's Sea Kayak League, with 408 points; second in the IV Master Sea Kayak League, also with 408 points; second in the VI U23 Men's Sea Kayak League, with 411 points and tied on points with the first classified; and second in the VI Junior Men's Sea Kayak League, with 401 points.
The extraordinary balance of the National Leagues is completed with a third place in the VI Junior Women's Sea Kayak League, with 393 points.
Thus, of the twelve national League classifications analyzed during the season, Marlines manages to climb onto the podium in eleven of them, a fact that reflects the enormous depth of the club's sporting structure and its ability to compete for top positions in practically all ages and categories.
To these eleven League podiums are added the three achieved in the Spanish Championship in Alicante: Spanish Absolute champions, Spanish Children champions, and Spanish Master third place.
The result is a balance of 14 collective titles and top positions between the National Leagues and the Spanish Championship: eight first places, four runner-up finishes, and two third places.
The result of a whole year
The sporting dimension of these results is even more valuable due to the effort required to compete at the highest national level starting from an island.
Each Copa de España involves mobilizing athletes, coaches, boats, vehicles, and equipment from Lanzarote to different points in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands.
The Spanish Championship was once again the best example. Marlines moved its largest expedition to Alicante, with 88 athletes and 103 registered boats, after undertaking a complex logistical operation to transport all the necessary equipment and after a practically full summer of training to reach the last national event in the best conditions.
The president of the Club Piragüismo Marlines de Lanzarote, Pepe, highlights the magnitude of what has been achieved:
“It is difficult to explain in words what it means to finish a season like this. Being double Spanish champions would already be enough reason to feel tremendously proud, but when we look at the whole year and see that we are also champions of the Absolute League, of Young Promises, of the Iberdrola League, of Senior Women, and of both Cadet leagues, we truly understand the dimension of what this team has achieved.”
“And there is something that for us has even more value: we are not talking about an isolated result. We have been at the top from the first Copa de España to the last race of the Spanish Championship. We have won with our youth academy, with the absolute team, and with our women. This shows that behind these results there is a solid sporting project and many people working throughout the year.”
The president of Marlines also wanted to recognize those who make it possible to compete throughout a season away from Lanzarote:
“Behind each of these medals and each title there are many hours of training, gym, sacrifice, travel, and work. There are athletes who have sacrificed their vacations, families who have been making a huge effort for months, and a technical staff that has not stopped working. Competing from Lanzarote is not easy, and that is why everything we have achieved has even more value for us.”
156 medals and 23 teams: the balance of a historic season
The final numbers allow us to understand even better the dimension of the season achieved by the Club Piragüismo Marlines de Lanzarote.
To the 14 collective titles and positions of honor achieved between the final classifications of the National Leagues and the Spanish Championship, we must add everything achieved during the three Spanish Cups that made up the national calendar.
Marlines achieved three collective podiums in the I Spanish Cup, another three in the II Spanish Cup, and closed the III Spanish Cup in Vigo with a spectacular full house of three collective victories.
The three Cups therefore contributed nine more collective podiums: seven first places and two runner-up finishes.
Adding the Spanish Cups, the Spanish Championship, and the final classifications of the National Leagues, Marlines closes 2026 with the extraordinary figure of 23 national collective podiums: 15 first places, six runner-up finishes, and two third places.
The individual medal table reflects an equally spectacular progression throughout the season: 33 medals in the I Spanish Cup, 38 in the II Spanish Cup, 42 in the III Spanish Cup, and 43 in the Spanish Championship in Alicante.
Four major national competitions and a progression of 33, 38, 42, and 43 medals, reaching a final total of 156 individual medals during the 2026 national season.

A balance that shows that what was achieved in Alicante has not been an isolated result, but the culmination of a season in which Marlines has maintained its competitive level from the first to the last event on the national calendar.
