The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, has responded to the recent statements by the socialist councilor Begoña Hernández, whom he accuses of launching a press release "full of lies and manipulations" about the circulation of buggies and other similar vehicles on tracks and dirt roads in the municipality.

According to Machín, this issue was addressed clearly in the last plenary session of the City Council, where it was explained that the Cabildo of Lanzarote already prohibits this practice through current regulations, also limiting circulation to a maximum of three vehicles of this type. “It is recorded and it was clear: the Cabildo is already acting in this regard, and from the City Council of Tinajo we are working on our own ordinance to regulate it”, says the mayor.

Machín regrets the behavior of the PSOE councilor, which he describes as "shameful" and "purely populist". “The Secretary-Intervenor even explained it to her during the plenary session. Even so, she insists on sowing confusion with falsehoods”, he reproaches.

The mayor emphasizes that the objective of the council is to protect the environment without harming the primary sector. “We are analyzing the ordinances of other municipalities to avoid restrictions that would also affect, for example, the passage of agricultural tractors. What we want is to prohibit tourist vehicle caravans, but facilitate access for farmers”, he points out.

Machín also thanks the Councilor for Territorial Policy of the Cabildo for the information provided on the island regulations and stresses that the PSOE, “instead of providing solutions, opts for demagoguery”. “Lying and manipulation are not good companions in politics. This goes beyond personal ego; it is about protecting Tinajo with common sense and responsibility”, he concludes.
