The regional leader of Nueva Canarias (NC), Luis Campos, was elected this Sunday as its new general secretary, replacing Román Rodríguez, who after twenty years as president of the party will hold the position of general secretary of Strategy, Program and Training.
Campos has led the only candidacy that has been presented to the sixth national congress of Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-BC), which has had 226 votes in favor, 19 blank votes and one abstention, and which also includes the until yesterday Secretary of Organization, Carmelo Ramírez, as National Secretary of International Solidarity.
Although Román Rodríguez announced his departure from the leadership together with Carmelo Ramírez yesterday Saturday to take a step towards renewal, Campos told reporters that the condition he set to lead the chosen candidacy was to have both "and that is why they continue".
