Lanzarote en Pie criticizes that the Arrecife City Council has allocated 15 thousand euros in three "tailor-made" reports for "two private companies on the BIC (Assets of Cultural Interest) of the city." The properties for which the reports have been commissioned are "the Hotel Oriental, El Mercadillo and Tamaragua", located on the main street of the capital.
According to the LEP councilor, Leandro Delgado, "the reports will be useless" because "the period for allegations has already passed because the BIC initiation was done in March and there were 15 business days to present allegations, but the budget for these reports was requested in May."
"Astrid Pérez has gotten into a mess that we don't know how she's going to get out of. She has used public money for an election campaign," the councilman criticizes. Delgado also points out that "these reports say exactly the same thing as the reports that were issued three years ago from the Cabildo Heritage Department, that is, that these properties have historical cultural values. The Gesplan reports say exactly the same thing as the Cabildo's technical reports."
Lanzarote en Pie points out that "the Arrecife City Council has not proceeded to protect any building with cultural and historical values. It has not invested a euro in drafting a Municipal Catalog. Nor has it promoted aid for the rehabilitation of unique properties or bonuses in municipal fees to the owners of this type of property."
The Lanzarote en Pie councilor also recalls that the City Council "gave an order to demolish the Hotel Oriental" when "according to state law and regional law" it is "responsible for ensuring the protection of the Cultural Heritage" of the municipality. In addition, he points out that "the Market was declared a BIC in 2006 by the Government of the Canary Islands."
"She was able to request a loan of 27 million euros to pay it to a family for a plot of land, but however there are many problems to use 350 thousand euros to rehabilitate the homes of the families of Titerroy or resolve the situation of the scattered areas of the municipality," Delgado concludes.
