The Cabildo of Lanzarote has received a subsidy amounting to 895,061.20 euros, granted by the Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, intended for the action *Improvement of the network of urban bus shelters for regular passenger transport in the municipality of Yaiza*. This initiative is part of the Agreement for the Canary Islands Strategy for Island Tourist Infrastructure, within Strategic Line 1: "Accessibility, safe mobility, and connectivity".

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, states that "with these new bus shelters, we are moving towards more accessible and sustainable transport while reinforcing the tourist image of one of our main tourist hubs, Playa Blanca. Our priority is to offer residents and visitors modern, safe, and quality public transport, making Lanzarote a more competitive and connected island."

Betancort explains that **the project includes the installation of 24 bus shelters** in Playa Blanca, "harmoniously integrated with the environment, respecting the original design and conditioning the margins of the action, with the aim of facilitating access for people with reduced mobility and creating safer and more comfortable pedestrian routes."For the Cabildo's Minister of Transport, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, "the installation of these shelters, which will feature a photovoltaic system, LED lighting, and information panels, will allow us to offer a safer, more comfortable, and more efficient service to users of regular transport. Furthermore, we will incorporate sustainability and accessibility criteria that will contribute to more responsible and modern urban mobility."

The subsidy will be financed entirely from budget item 16.05.432B.760.04, within investment project 247G0179 “Financing of Tourist Infrastructure Works on the island of Lanzarote and La Graciosa”, ensuring that resources are allocated to the execution of tourist infrastructures that improve connectivity and accessibility on the island.

It should be recalled that the Cabildo of Lanzarote has already allocated more than 600,000 euros to the renovation of fifteen urban bus shelters in Costa Teguise, the execution of which is about to conclude. These works, promoted by the Transport Department, will unify the image of the bus shelters, while incorporating accessibility and safety criteria for all users.
