The assembly hall of the Cabildo de Lanzarote will host, next Wednesday, October 8, the second session of the campaign More tap, less plastic, with which the Lanzarote Biosphere Reserve office seeks to promote dialogue on tap water consumption.

The activity will begin at 7:00 p.m. with the screening of a summary video of the previous day, promoted in June 2024 by the educational community to address the installation of water fountains in schools. Next, a panel of experts in various fields related to water distribution and quality control will answer questions from the audience for approximately one hour.

The speakers will be the professor of Chemistry at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Rayco Guedes Alonso; the Public Health inspector, Marta Betancort Correa; the head of the Water Laboratory of Canal Gestión Lanzarote, Sara Martín García; the manager of the Lanzarote Water Consortium, Fernando Fernández Pinazo; and the representative of the FEMEPA-CAFONGAS plumbers federation, Javier de Quintana. The event will be led by the teacher Yeray Guedes Alonso.

On this occasion, the boards of the traditional societies of Lanzarote, Casa del Miedo, Torrelavega, La Democracia, Real Club Náutico, the Los Buches musical group, the Los Campesinos association, the Association of Transporters, the seven town councils of the island, and the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote have joined forces in a collaborative attempt to introduce the consumption of tap water and the reduction of plastic into the public conversation.

The Councilor for the Biosphere Reserve, Samuel Martín, invites the public to attend this informative meeting, which will open an interesting debate on tap water consumption on the island.
