The Cabildo of Lanzarote reinforces the well-being of the island's working population through the organization of the conference *Promotion of Mental Health in the Workplace*, focused on the prevention of suicidal behavior in professional environments. The event will be held this Thursday, November 27, in the auditorium of the Cabildo, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
The initiative, organized by the Occupational Health and Occupational Risk Prevention Unit (PRL), together with the Social Welfare and Inclusion Area, is primarily aimed at managers, professionals from Human Resources, Occupational Safety and Health, and Occupational Risk Prevention technicians.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, has highlighted the importance of these types of actions for caring for the mental health of those who make up the island's workforce, and insists on the need to offer training "creating awareness in the workplace, where prevention, active listening, and emotional well-being are a priority".
For his part, the Minister of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, indicated that this conference is part of the Corporation's "strategy" to address mental health, "an increasingly relevant problem in today's society," this time with a strictly professional focus. "We want these conferences to serve to offer practical tools, resolve doubts, and share experiences that allow companies to take care of their team in a comprehensive way," he stressed.
For the development of this event, the Cabildo has the collaboration of Affor Health, a Spanish consultancy with 15 years of experience in psychosocial management and an international presence in countries such as Portugal, Mexico, and Colombia. Likewise, the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa is participating, with the aim of reaching as many companies and professionals on the island as possible.
The day will begin with a welcome from councilor Marci Acuña, and will continue with the presentation by Dr. Eduardo Vera, a psychiatrist with training at prestigious national and international centers, who will deliver the lecture *Sow winds and you will reap storms, sow hope… and you will have Mental Health: protective factors to prevent the development of serious mental disorders*.
Next, Montse Márquez, psychologist and psychosocial consultant at Affor Health, will give the talk Promoting Mental Health in the Workplace, offering a contextual framework on mental health and practical tools for team management and the creation of healthy and safe work environments. The day will conclude with a round table and the closing of the event.
