UGT Sanidad Lanzarote has warned in a press release of the "imminent execution" of a shift change in the out-of-hospital emergencies of the island.

According to the union, the Management "intends to unilaterally impose the withdrawal of the shift consolidated for years of permanent healthcare staff —doctors and nurses—, with barely a month's notice and without the consent of the affected staff".

UGT recalls that this same measure "was already applied in December to administrative staff and to the orderlies of the Tías Emergency Service and of the Valterra center, without prior notice and against the affected workers".

The union denounces that this decision "entails a substantial alteration of working conditions, while other organizational and care deficiencies reported by staff, which directly affect patient care, remain unresolved".

The proposal was taken to the Staff Board, where the unions present voted in favor, while UGT was the only organization that abstained, waiting for the staff to be able to express their opinion.

Likewise, they warn that "it will not allow the imposition of changes that harm professionals and will adopt as many union and legal actions as necessary in defense of their rights".
