Canarian Police in Lanzarote

The Ministry of Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security, directed by Nieves Lady Barreto, will carry out a reinforcement of security on the island of Lanzarote through the General Corps of the Canarian Police, with the presence of fourteen agents with vehicles from the Citizen Security Unit and the Prevention and Intervention Unit (UPRI). This special device will be present from Tuesday the 15th until Saturday the 19th of April during Holy Week and will act in collaboration with the rest of the bodies and the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

This new operation is in addition to those already planned in La Palma and Fuerteventura. In the case of the former, the Autonomous Police has been operating since last year in the Aridane Valley, while on the island of Majorera, "in these two months the Police has managed to reduce the feeling of insecurity," said the Minister of the Presidency, Nieves Lady Barreto, in the Parliament of the Canary Islands this week.

In addition, the agents will collaborate in specific Holy Week events such as, for example, in the municipality of Güímar (Tenerife), together with the already announced collaboration with the Island Council, with a presence in Cruz del Carmen, Taganana, Masca and the Portillo-Los Azulejos section, as well as there will be an increase in personnel in Mogán (Gran Canaria) due to a planned increase in the influx of people.

Finally, the northern areas of both capital islands will also be reinforced with Citizen Security patrols, especially in places where a gathering of people is expected, as in the case of Teide.
