The Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium has put out to tender the acquisition of a truck for the fire department and two pick-up type vehicles. This tender, which will be financed through the Canary Islands Development Fund, has a total base tender budget of 598,000 euros.
Specifically, the contract has been divided into two distinct lots to allow bidders to participate independently. The first lot focuses on the supply of a fire engine of the tanker type, with an allocated budget of 450,000 euros which already includes the cost of specialized training that will be provided to the staff after the vehicle is delivered. The second lot contemplates the acquisition of two light pick-up vehicles with open beds, intended for logistical and technical transport tasks for a value of 148,000 euros, an item that is subject to a zero rate in application of current fiscal measures.
Companies interested in this contract can access complete information through the State Contracting Platform.
The vice-president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and head of the Planning and Project Coordination area, María Jesús Tovar, has assured that this future acquisition "will represent a further boost in terms of security in Lanzarote and La Graciosa". "
For his part, the president of the Security and Emergencies Consortium, Francisco J. Aparicio, has placed special emphasis on the operational impact that this renewal of the vehicle fleet will have on the real security of the island. Aparicio explained that the incorporation of these vehicles "is an essential and ideal measure to renew current resources with much more efficient, durable ones adapted to the modern demands of the public rescue service".
Vehicle Specifications
Addressing the technical requirements set for the first batch, the heavy vehicle will consist of a chassis equipped with a multilift hook system, designed to maximize its versatility through the exchange of structures. This truck will include a mother container with a capacity of 9,000 liters that has the particularity of being able to work completely autonomously without needing to remain connected to the vehicle. The supply also incorporates a second multipurpose cargo container that will perform the flooding function for the extinction of electric vehicles, as well as a loading crane with a reach of 9.4 meters and a lifting capacity of 5,400 kilograms.
To complete its operability in adverse weather conditions, the truck will have a hydraulic snowplow-type blade integrated into its front, a tool that proves essential for acting in episodes of severe flooding with the aim of displacing large volumes of water, mud, or debris from public roads.
Regarding the second batch, the two light pick-up type vehicles will present a specific configuration for rescue interventions in areas of difficult access, acting as mountain vehicles. These units depart from the traditional open-box design through the installation of a hard-top enclosure for the cargo space. Likewise, their rescue equipment will include a stretcher rack, elevated suspension systems to improve their off-road capabilities, a winch for self-rescue or towing maneuvers, and a tow ball.
Francisco J. Aparicio has detailed that these all-terrain vehicles are intended to reinforce the equipment of the new Tías fire station and the future station in the northern part of the island, ensuring an optimal peripheral distribution of emergency resources.
