A tribute to couples who have been together for more than 50 years

On the most symbolic day for lovers, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through the Department of the Elderly, wanted to pay tribute to 19 couples from the island who have shared more than half a century of life together.

The 1st Meeting Together 50 years +, held at the Arrecife Gran Hotel & Spa, became an emotional tribute to those who have built their history on the foundations of love, respect and resilience.

Music, memories and emotions were the protagonists of a gala in which not only the longevity of love was celebrated, but also the values that sustain a relationship over time: respect, trust, patience and complicity.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, present at the event together with the Minister of the Elderly Area, Nori Machín, highlighted "the importance of recognizing those who have dedicated their lives not only to their partner, but also to society".

“Today we honor those who have shown that true love not only withstands the test of time, but is strengthened with each shared challenge. You are a testament that dedication and complicity are the basis of a full life as a couple,” said Betancort.

For her part, Minister Nori Machín stressed the value of this meeting as a space to highlight the figure of the elderly in our society. “This act is a recognition of their essential role in the history of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. They have been fundamental pillars of their families and of our island, and we want them to feel like protagonists, because they are,” she said.

The gala, hosted by the emblematic Lanzarote presenter Francisco José Navarro, was marked by emotion and joy. The 19 honored couples received a commemorative gift from the president and the minister, but the real gift was the celebration shared with family and friends.

The live music of Acorán Ramos and Daniel Valiente provided the soundtrack to this journey through eternal love, creating a magical moment that will remain in the memory of all those present who enjoyed an event that culminated with a toast in honor of the couples, symbolizing not only the years lived, but also those that remain to be celebrated.

In the 1st Meeting 'Together 50 years +', Lanzarote not only celebrated love as a couple, but also love for life and for those who have dedicated theirs to building a better present for their families.
