The Lanzarote Member of Parliament of the Canarian Nationalist Group (CC-PNC-AHI) Jesús Machín Tavío has presented a Non-Law Proposal for the regulation of the authorization for a limited time of service areas, with public and/or private spaces, for motorhomes, housing vehicles and mixed vehicles.
Thus, he proposes that island councils and town councils be urged to establish "a regulatory framework that allows the coexistence of all citizens in a civic manner, the rational distribution of public spaces and temporary parking within the Canary Islands".
To this end, Machín states, "it is necessary to study the possible environmental impacts that these areas could infer on our natural, landscape and environmental environment in order to eliminate or minimize their effects, through the measures they deem appropriate, and provide logistical support to island councils and town councils through the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning, for the urban planning regulatory fit of these service areas for overnight stays of motorhomes, housing vehicles and mixed vehicles".
The nationalist parliamentarian defends that this type of "tourism on wheels has been gaining followers over time and has consolidated itself as a real, effective, more sustainable and balanced alternative with our territory".
"That is why we need to give legal certainty to this group, that they have spaces to develop their activity safely, complying with all the existing sanitary measures at this time and establishing a framework in which lovers of this tourism on wheels coexist with the rest of the citizens," he says.
