Ruimán Duarte Tavío will be the candidate of Lanzarote En Pie to the Cabildo for the elections of May 28. With this news, the political formation has announced this Thursday that it will also present a candidacy to the highest island body.
The presentation will take place during the afternoon of this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the headquarters of the municipal organization in the Valterra neighborhood in Arrecife.
In this way, the municipalists take the first step towards island politics, stating that “Lanzarote En Pie is necessary in the island's institutions. We have shown that we have the capacity to work, that we care about the territory we inhabit and that we are focused on the problems that affect the daily lives of the residents,” the political formation insisted in a statement.
Leticia Padilla, island coordinator of LEP, has stated that “the incorporation of Ruimán Duarte into the Lanzarote En Pie project reinforces one of the fundamental principles of the party: to have people who contribute work, dedication and a sense of the common good.”
In this line, Padilla wanted to highlight that “he has a vision that perfectly coincides with the values promoted by our political formation. The determination, the will, the work and the commitment to find solutions are characteristics that identify us and that Ruimán meets.”
Ruimán Duarte Tavío has been working for more than two decades as a public employee in the Public Administration. He currently performs his duties in the Ministry of Environment, Animal Welfare and Biosphere Reserve. In the field of animal welfare, he is a precursor of various initiatives aimed at combating abandonment and animal abuse and promoting empathy for animals. During the twenty years of work in the Cabildo of Lanzarote he has also developed work in the areas of Historical Heritage, Social Welfare and Housing.
Duarte wanted to express his “enthusiasm for being part of the LEP project at the island level.” In this sense, he pointed out that he comes “to add, to contribute and to be part of the work team.” “I am aware of the responsibility involved in the challenge we are facing and I am going to assume it because the way of doing politics that characterizes Lanzarote En Pie is necessary in local institutions,” he said.
Likewise, the LEP candidate is clear that “to face the challenges that the Cabildo has ahead with guarantees, we must start by valuing the working and competent staff of the institution. Dignifying the work of good public professionals is essential for everything to move forward. Poor management of human resources generates a stalled and inefficient administration.”
To conclude, Ruimán Duarte wanted to highlight that he has “a different political profile, in addition to being a public employee, I am just another citizen, but with the possibility of working on the front line to help positively transform the island. I believe in dialogue, in the search for consensus and I shy away from partisan battles that contribute nothing to the inhabitants of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.”
