Lanzarote En Pie (LEP) held its General Assembly this Saturday, May 24, at its headquarters in Arrecife. In this space, the most immediate steps of the political project for the next two years were agreed upon; highlighting the beginning of an internal reorganization process and the convocation of its political Congress, which will take place on June 28.
Specifically, the Assembly agreed to prepare a calendar of internal meetings with the aim of opening a collective debate on the challenges of the municipalist left space in Lanzarote. "This calendar is part of a roadmap that will allow us to update organizational tools and strengthen the collective construction of the project," they say from the organization.
With an eye on the June Congress, Lanzarote En Pie is committed to "collectively rethinking our strategies, adapting the organic functioning to a new political cycle and continuing to reaffirm our commitment to transformative and progressive politics, focused on the close and community-based."
Leticia Padilla, island coordinator of LEP, has pointed out that "we have started an edifying internal process, with the aim of strengthening our organizational structure and reaffirming the principles and values of LEP." In the same vein, she indicated that "in the first phases we will seek to consolidate an active nucleus committed to the municipalist project."
From LEP they wanted to emphasize that "this new cycle will give continuity to a coherent trajectory, focused on local action and rooted in the defense of the common good and public services, collective identity and social justice."
To conclude, Leticia Padilla, has expressed that "we will continue building a project that takes care of what is close, that promotes citizen participation and that moves towards the strengthening of the island community; with renewed energies and under the conviction that a left-wing project directly connected with the local is necessary."
